Are you interested in serving in CMA's House of Delegates?

The California Medical Association (CMA) is currently accepting applications and nominations for members to serve as delegates and alternates in the association's House of Delegates (HOD). The HOD convenes annually to debate and act on resolutions and reports dealing with myriad medical practice, public health and CMA governance issues. Delegates are also expected to participate in the association's year round policy making process, through the submission of online testimony.

Specifically, CMA is currently seeking applications and nominations for the mode-of-practice forum delegations. (Note: mode-of-practice refers to the type or size of your medical practice setting. Click here for official definitions.)

Positions are available in the following delegations:

  • Academic Practice Forum Delegation
  • Administrative Medicine Forum Delegation
  • Government-Employed Physicians Forum Delegation
  • Hospital-Based Practice Forum Delegation
  • Large Group Practice Forum Delegation
  • Medium-Size Group Practice Forum Delegation
  • Solo and Small Group Practice Forum Delegation
The most fundamental responsibility of delegates and alternates is to represent their constituents in the House of Delegates by attending and actively participating in delegation caucus meetings and in all sessions of the House. Delegates will serve a two-year term beginning July 1, 2016, and ending June 30, 2018.

The deadline to submit an application or nomination is Thursday, April 28, 2016. Members of each mode of practice will hold an election to select their representatives from the nominees. A ballot will be distributed no later than May 31, 2016, with election results announced no later than June 16, 2016.
